CBT, Mindfulness and Psychotherapy in London Bridge and Central London

“What we call the beginning is often the end. And to make an end is to make a beginning. The end is where we start from.”

T S Eliot

People seek therapy for many reasons. It may be that that a number of stressors have been accumulating in your personal or professional life and one or the other seems too hard to bear. There may have been one key event such as the ending of a relationship, loss of a job, bereavement or another significant life event that has left you feeling no longer able to cope. Typically there is a sense that there is no balance in life, you may be struggling to say no to various commitments or responsibilities, feeling that you are failing or no longer achieving and fearing that you will make a mistake or upset someone. You may be feeling trapped trying to maintain impossible standards or looking after the needs of others whilst neglecting to give yourself care and attention. Such a loss of balance tends to lead to a reliance on coping strategies that drain us in the longer term including addictive behaviours and excessive work.

It may also be that you are feeling sad and low and that you have lost a sense of pleasure in life and that it no longer has any meaning for you. You may feel lethargic and lacking in motivation or procrastinating and not knowing where to start. You may regret decisions that you have made in the past or feel that your life has not worked out the way you intended.

When we are caught up in trying to follow impossible rules or standards our minds go into overdrive constantly reminding us of what needs to be done or worrying about what might happen in the future – to ourselves or those that we care about leading to a sense of anxiety and panic.

Although you may be feeling isolated and alone these kinds of difficulties are part of the human experience, but equally seeking therapy at such times can enable you to feel less trapped and stuck. I have 15 years of experience as a CBT therapist specialising in Mindfulness and Compassion Focused approaches and I have worked with clients from a diverse range of backgrounds with equally diverse experiences. My commitment is to create a safe, non-judgmental, collaborative space to enable you to explore the issues that lead to growth and change.
